Wendy Hoke Elected New President of Campus District, Inc. Board of Directors
On December 9, 2016, the Campus District, Inc. Board of Directors elected a new president. Wendy Hoke, Senior Vice President at St. Vincent Charity Medical Center, will serve as the new board president, replacing Dr. Byron White of Cleveland State University. Upon her election at the board meeting, Ms. Hoke remarked on what a great honor it will be to serve as President: “Campus District is doing amazing things and I look forward to leading with Bobbi and our Board Members into the future.”
Dr. White, CSU’s outgoing Vice President of University Engagement and Chief Diversity Officer, served two and half years as Campus District’s board president. Dr. White steps down from these two roles in Cleveland to accept a new position as Vice President of the Knowledge Works Foundation and Executive Director of the Strive Partnership in Cincinnati. Continuing his career in education and allowing Dr. White to reestablish his home in Cincinnati, where his wife and children reside.
During Byron’s time at CSU and on the CDI Board, he engaged Cleveland State University deeply in the work of improving the Southern Campus District, which is also the western end of the Central neighborhood. With his involvement, CSU committed to a Hire Local program with CMHA residents, established the Central Scholars program, and created the University’s office of Civic Engagement. He will be missed dearly and we wish him success in his new position.
