Tri-C Metro Campus Groundbreaking!
Officials from the College, City and State as well as community stakeholders take part in the groundbreaking ceremony. Dr. Michael Schoop, President of Tri-C’s Metro Campus, Dr. Alex Johnson, President of Tri-C, and Councilwoman Phyllis Cleveland were among the event’s speakers.
This past Tuesday, city, state, and college officials broke ground on what will be a $38 million renovation to the Tri-C Metro Campus. Multiple speakers remarked on the impact the two-year project would have — not only on the Metro Campus but on the surrounding community along East 30th Street as well. The new architecture designed by Bialosky & Partners Architects is intended to open up the space on campus to create a more inviting atmosphere.
The new Campus Center will provide a number of new amenities to Tri-C students, including: a Barnes & Noble bookstore featuring a coffeehouse, a food court and dining area including an outdoor courtyard, classrooms dedicated to college prep programs, offices for student government and extra-curricular activities, as well as a new conference hall for public meetings and other receptions.
This transformation, or rebirth of the Metro Campus was described by Dr. Michael Schoop, President of Tri-C’s Metro Campus, as “the beginning of a campus renaissance.” The Campus Center is scheduled to reopen Fall of 2018.
