Bobbi Reichtell will retire from the Campus District on February 28th and Mark Lammon will succeed her as Executive Director.

Campus District Inc. (CDI), the non-profit community development corporation serving the education, medical, and arts district in eastern downtown Cleveland has announced the selection of Mark Lammon as its new executive director.  Lammon will fill the vacancy being created at the end of February by Bobbi Reichtell’s retirement. The selection was made after a regional search and rigorous selection process.

“We are very pleased to announce this appointment,” reported Dr. Michael Schoop, President of the Cuyahoga Community College Metro Campus and President of the Campus District Board of Directors.   “Mark will bring deep experience in downtown and neighborhood development and a strong sense of commitment to our neighborhood’s diverse populations. With Mark’s knowledge of national best practices, his experience, and his passion for Cleveland,  he is poised to build on the momentum the Campus District has gained over the past several years.”

Lammon said, “I’m very excited to be leading the Campus District and continuing Bobbi’s amazing work.  The Campus District is at the precipice of becoming downtown’s next thriving neighborhood and I will work hard each day to ensure we build a community for everyone in Cleveland to enjoy.”

Lammon’s resume includes over a dozen years of planning, administration, development and marketing experience in the nonprofit and private sectors.  Lammon is leaving his position as Vice President of Business Development at Block by Block where in that capacity he was responsible for developing operational plans for downtown and urban management districts.  Traveling throughout the United States, he provided districts both large and small with national best practices on areas such as hospitality and entertainment district management, social service and outreach issues, and place making activities.

Prior to that position, Lammon was the Director of Operations for Downtown Cleveland Alliance and supervised its Business Improvement District covering 105 blocks with over 60 employees.  In addition to day to day operations, Mark was the liaison between the business community and the City of Cleveland, providing guidance and insight on infrastructure projects and safety issues.

In addition to his past work experience, he has also served on nonprofit boards at a leadership level. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Studies from Baldwin Wallace College. Lammon is a resident of the Westpark neighborhood of Cleveland where he resides with his wife and young son.

Bobbi Reichtell is retiring after a 40+ year career in community development, the last 5 and 1/2 years as Executive Director of the Campus District. She said, “I am so happy to have Mark Lammon lead the important work of the Campus District. He is stepping in at the perfect time as we start the operation of our new Superior Arts Improvement District. He is inheriting a board of directors that is top notch and have been a joy to work for.”

The Campus District is home to  Cleveland State University, Cuyahoga Community College, St. Vincent Charity Medical Center, the Superior Arts District and numerous small to mid-sized businesses. It has a diverse residential population comprised of students, low-income families and seniors in public housing, artists in live-work studios, professionals in market-rate apartments and over 500 people residing in homeless shelters.
