Juvenile Court RFP Released

The Campus District on July 21, 2015 - 11:20 am in Features, Live, Play

Campus District, Inc. has released a Request for Proposals for the historic Juvenile Court Complex. The Campus District’s East 22 Redevelopment LLC has a long term lease with an option to purchase the property from the County. Original plans were for a college prep boarding school for at risk youth to be run by the SEED Foundation in collaboration with Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD). After a year long feasibility study by SEED, funders  and CMSD, CMSD declined to take on the project at this time. Campus District, Inc. is now seeking proposals from private developers. With hundreds of millions of public and private investment happening around the building north and south, the property is expected to garner more interest than it did in 2012 when the county’s public bidding process generated only one bid for the building.

The main building is located on East 22nd between Cedar and  Central Avenues and was constructed in the 1930s, with a detention facility addition in 1964. The building is 166,750 square feet in size and sits on approximately 4 acres of land within the Campus District, with close proximity to major institutions (CSU, Tri-C, St. Vincent Charity Medical Center), downtown Cleveland’s Central Business District, housing, and a variety of transportation options.

The RFP can be downloaded here. There will be an pre-submittal information meeting held on August 14th, and site visits on August 18 and 19 and proposals will be due October 15, 2015. For more information on the building and the RFP, please contact Bobbi Reichtell at breichtell@campusdistrict.orgor by phone at 216.650.6945.
