Greater Circle Living Expanded Boundaries: Central and Midtown now Included
The Greater Circle Living (GCL) program will continue to revitalize Greater University Circle (GUC) neighborhoods one family at a time thanks to The Cleveland Foundation, along with anchor institutional partners who pledged an additional $3.1 million to sustain the program. Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals and Case Western Reserve University have made a 3-year commitment for the continuation of the successful live near work program.
In addition to the financial commitment GCL has expanded its geographic boundaries to include parts of St. Clair-Superior and Central/Midtown neighborhoods (See attached map)
The program offers an incentive for eligible fulltime and some part time employees of non-profit institutions located in GUC to live closer to work by providing a forgivable loan for down payment and/or closing costs assistance. Additionally, eligible employees of Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals and Case Western Reserve University may also be eligible for rental and exterior home repair assistance.
Originally launched in May 2008 with support from Surdna Foundation and Kent H. Smith Charitable Trust, GCL has seen major growth throughout the years assisting over 300 employees in renting, repairing, and purchasing a home.
Fairfax Renaissance Development Corporation (FRDC) administers the program and University Circle Inc. (UCI), assists in marketing the program.
